It makes me mad
My eyes aren’t blue
And my hair’s not long

to do my nails
or notice my hem
is falling.
Don’t look at me
I’m not wearing the right makeup
it’s all I had
I saw some in a magazine that
would be better.

When summer comes, I’m going
to lose weight
and get a tan.
I have a friend who
said she would teach me
to dance, too
but until then . . .
